The Kansas City Bear Fighters
Founded in the cruel winter of 2007, The Kansas City Bear Fighters first took shape as one lonely man's homage to music as a salve for the soul. Originally, the group performed under the nom de plume "The Denver Broncos" which many considered to be the product of one man's struggling and genius search for a fire that could crack the deep cavernous walls of his soul.
Quinn, the band's leader and sole songwriter, took up music after a failed career as the leader of a short-lived, but violent, cult. Sean, brother of Quinn, son of Stephen and Katherine, is as tough as the soviet hammer and as crooked as the scythe that crosses it. Grant is a man of many talents who collects stamps and is an amateur etymologist; both trades he learned while serving a eight year sentence in Leavenworth for torturing a farmer and his wife. Jeffrey Williams, the newest and most flexible member of the band, was the youngest of his family acrobat act called "The Flying Williamses". A gangster who'd been extorting money from the circus sabotaged their trapeze equipment, and Jeff was the only one who survived the disaster. As part of his elaborate vow to avenge his family, he took up playing the guitar.
The crooners play regularly throughout the Midwest.
Hailing from the rolling hills of Kansas, Tyler Gregory can regularly be found performing with his steam-powered melodies. Gregory's mix of blues and roots music howls with a sense of passion and freedom. This songcrafter takes the cues and lifestyle from WWII-era blues bellowers and drives full force on his guitar/banjo/stomp-box live performance arrangements.
Gregory has released three albums as well as managed to tour (average of 230 shows a year) consistently the last three years. He has shared the stage with JJ Grey & Mofro, Lucky Tubb, Dawes, Split Lip Rayfield, Charlie Parr, Truckstop Honeymoon, and Possessed by Paul James.
Green Flamingos started in 2012, when siblings Jesse and Annie Friesen first began playing music together.
Green Flamingos play what they refer to as "acoustified rock and pseudo-electrified folk." Consisting primarily of guitar, ukulele, cajon, and great vocals, with upright bass, drums, and piano thrown in here and there, The Green Flamingos play many different varieties of music, from classic rock and oldies to current rock and pop, from classic country to folk and Americana. By taking familiar songs and transforming them into a distinct and unique acoustic-americana style, along with young ears, The Green Flamingos are perfect for an audience of any age.
In 2015, after performing as a duo for years, "Bobby J" Edwards was introduced as the third official band member. With talented and creative members, Green Flamingos are an incredible trio that's hard to beat!
Taken from Kristin Shafel Omiccioli of KCMetropolis.org:
"Kyle East and Adam Scott York are The Engineers, a new alt-folk duo in the Kansas City area with loads of pop appeal. ...The duo has a charming partnership musically and on stage, with mild, self-deprecating humor and friendliness with the audience. If you like The Avett Brothers, Death Cab for Cutie, and Joshua Radin's sensitive folksy style, you'll want to keep The Engineers on your radar."
